· A largely ungoverned settlement in Hong Kong
· Once the most densely populated place on earth, with 33,000 people packed into just over six acres
· Notorious for its crime and unsanitary living conditions, Kowloon was a teeming hive of interlinking high-rises that few dared to enter but thousands called home
· Found to be increasingly intolerable by both the British and Chinese authorities, Kowloon was eventually demolished in 1993, forcefully displacing an already destitute population
